A delegation lead by Deputy Chairman Senate, Saleem Mandviwalla, Senator Javaid Abbassi and Senator Aurengzeb Khan arrived in Ottawa on the invitation of the forum of federations. Canada-Pakistan Chamber of Commerce facilitated and supported the coordination of the delegation.

The delegation met with the Forum of Federations to discuss future collaboration between the Forum and Government of Pakistan.

The delegation Observed a session of the Senate of Canada, where the delegation’s visit was recognized by Senator Salma Ataullah Jan. The delegation was given a guided tour of the Canadian Parliament and an opportunity to observe Question Period. They met with members of the Canada Pakistan Friendship Group to Provide opportunity for dialogue between Pakistan and Canada, and to foster good relations between Parliamentarians

An Iftar Dinner was hosted at Chateau Laurier with Parliamentarians, Senior Government Officials, as well as Ambassadors and High Commissioners from Forum of Federations partner countries.

The dinner was attended by Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons the Honorable Bruce Stanton MP Omar Alghabra, Parliamentary assistant to Minister of Foreign Affairs, MP Andrew Leslie, Senator Salma Ataullah Jan, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Canada Tariq Azeem and former Canadian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Greg Giokas and Mehreen Javaid, President of Canada Pakistan Chamber of Commerce.

Deputy Chairman Senate, Honorable Saleem Mandviwalla and Salma Siddiqui signed a MoU for cooperation between Canada and Pakistan. President of Forum of Federations, Mr. Rupak Chattopadhyay thanked Mehreen Javaid for her invaluable assistance in Coordinating with various parties in Canada and Pakistan in putting together the study tour of Pakistan delegation.
